After spending a few weeks in Napa this summer, I thought I would share with you my favorite Napa Cabernet Sauvignons. With over 400 wineries in the Napa Valley there are a lot of options to choose from. Napa Cabernets hold a lot of prestige and have the reputation of being bold with strong fruit flavors of black currant, oak and earthy flavors. Wineries all over Napa are producing outstanding cabernet. Here are my personal top 10 favorite Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons:
If you enjoy Napa wine you have definitely heard of Stag’s Leap Wince Cellars. Stag’s leap is famous for wining the Paris Judgement in 1976 with their SLV cabernet. I could not make a Napa Cabernet 10 list without including this infamous wine. The SLV has stood the test of time and is still a top pick for Napa cabernet. The flavor and aroma profile for the SLV has everything you want in a cab from violet and blackcurrant to balanced oak and minerality.
The M5 from the Krupp Brothers winery encompasses every aspect of an idealistic Napa Cabernet. This cab is dark and full bodied. It gives you a mouthful of blackcurrant, black cherry, tobacco, violet and spices and leaves an impeccable and sultry finish.
5. Pride Mountain Vineyards Vintner’s Select Cabernet Sauvignon
This cabernet is big with flavors and aromas of black cherries, blackcurrant, chocolate and spice. This a full bodied rich wine and is amazing for any tannin lovers like myself.
